What to Expect In Jiu-Jitsu Class
You’ll start the class with a warm up and drills. Then, our instructors will teach you techniques step-by-step. You’ll learn techniques like fundamental takedowns, position escapes, position controls, sweeps, and submissions.
Students will develop discipline and learn structure while improving motor skills, flexibility, agility and overall fitness level. We believe in having strong fundamental skills in Jiu-Jitsu as well as challenging our students with more advanced techniques.
Our classes feature live rolling at the end of class to allow you to practice techniques in action. No matter what level of skill you are at, our classes help take you to the next level.
Gi Class
In Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi Class, students will wear a BJJ uniform, called a Gi. The Gi is a traditional Jiu Jitsu uniform that includes a jacket, drawstring pants and belt that indicates rank. We require that a rash guard be worn underneath the Gi.
The Gi is far more than just a uniform, and is an important tool for training. The Gi allows BJJ practitioners to use certain techniques to escape, submit or sweep their opponents.
No Gi Class
In Brazilian Jiu Jitsu No Gi Class, students will not wear the traditional Gi uniform. We require that students wear a rash guard, spats and shorts for this class.
No Gi classes are different from Gi classes in a few ways. Due to the lack of Gi, submissions and grips are more limited as there is no clothing to grab onto. Paces while rolling in No Gi classes tend to be faster and require you to make quick decisions.
