Professor Marcelo Mattos is a 3rd degree black belt and world class competitor.
About Marcelo
Professor Marcelo was born in Rio de Janeiro and has had a passion for sports since an early age. Growing up Marcelo excelled in soccer and swimming. As Marcelo got older he began training in kickboxing, Muay Thai MMA and soon discovered the world of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
As Professor Marcelo trained more and more , his dedication and hard work became apparent and soon he was competing Internationally. In 2008 he first came to the United States to compete. Two years later he would come to Central Pennsylvania to stay.
Marcelo's Vision
Professor Marcelo always had a vision of opening a school that would offer the jiu jitsu lifestyle to the adults and children in the area. This vision has become a reality at Marcelo Mattos BJJ.
Through Professor Marcelos leadership, the school offers a children's program that focuses on discipline, respect, determination and fun. The adult and teen Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program is opened to beginners that have never trained in the "gentle art" as well as experienced students.
Professor Marcelo is a certified kickboxing instructor and offers classes in that discipline as well. Professor Marcelo also believes in helping in the community, giving self defense seminars to local police departments as well as the military.
